British actor born in Redhill, England on 20 September 1881. He began his career in London theaters then moved to New York and had a long career in Broadway. In the early 1930s, he moved to Hollywood, and his first major role was one The Pursuit of Happiness (1934). Other notable works of his include The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936), The Man in the Iron Mask (1939), and Dr. Kildare Goes Home (1940). His final appearance was on Merry Andrew (1958). He was married twice and had one child. He died on 7 February 1958 in North Hollywood, California, USA.
