English actress and singer, born in Mansfield, United Kingdom. She was nominated for a British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress and has starred in a number of Mike Leigh films and plays by writer Alan Ayckbourn. She met her husband, actor Martin Savage, while she was starring in Topsy-Turvy (1999). They are parents to one child. She has also worked extensively in theater in the UK and on American Broadway.
