He is an American actor born in New York City, USA, on August 13, 1908. He received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film and television works. He is best known for Smartest Girl in Town (1936), Love on a Bet (1936), Million Dollar Weekend (1948), and Smilin Through (1941). He worked as a film, theater and television actor, screenwriter, director, producer, songwriter, and composer in the 1930s and early 1940s. He appeared in theater productions at the age of 12, and at 17, he participated in the play, The Cradle. He died in 1998 at the age of 90.
