A Brazilian stage, television, and film actress, who is thought of by many to be the greatest Brazilian actress ever. Fernanda Montenegro is often referred to as the grande dame of Brazilian theater, cinema, and performing arts. She is the only Brazilian to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Moreover, Montenegro is the only actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for a performance in Portuguese, namely that in Central Station (1998). Additionally, she was the first Brazilian to win an International Emmy Award in the Best Actress category for her performance in Sweet Mother (2012). She is also known for O Dono do Mundo (1991-1992) and Invisible Life (2019).
