A former Argentine football player and coach, born in Lanus, Argentina. He was widely considered one of the greatest players in history and was a joint winner of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award. He earned the nickname "El Pibe de Oro" ("The Golden Child"), a name that stuck with him throughout his career. On 2 November 2020, Maradona was hospitalized in La Plata for apparently psychological reasons. A day later, he underwent emergency brain surgery to treat a subdural hematoma. He was discharged from the hospital on November 12 after a successful surgery. On November 25, 2020, Maradona died at the age of 60 of a heart attack at his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires. He appeared as himself in the film Pantani: The Accidental Death of a Cyclist.
