She was an Indian actress, born on May 17, 1953, in Mumbai, India. Her father was the actor Ashok Kumar. She played comic roles in Bollywood in the 1970s and 1980s. Esposal (1974) was the film that launched her career. In 1993, she founded Ashok Kumar's Academy of Dramatic Arts in Mumbai. Her notable works include Khatta Meetha (1978), Kranti (1981), and Sumbandh (1982). She died on December 2, 2012, in Mumbai, India.
