An American actress, who was born on September 22, 1898 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Samuel Goldwyn gave her a chance on stage from where she rose to become one of the the leading artists of Broadway. She debuted in 1934, and participated in Death Takes a Holiday (1934), Enchanted April (1935), and Dance, Girl, Dance (1940). She died on January 10, 1981 in Tryon, North Carolina, USA.
