An Iraqi writer who has been writing stories since the mid-sixties. She published her first collection of short stories in Baghdad in 1974. In late 1979, she immigrated to Egypt, settled there, and worked as a translator, essayist, and researcher in heritage and politics. She has several collections of short stories and many of her stories have been translated into different languages such as English, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, French, Spanish, and others. Through her efforts, she established a private publishing house for Iraqi writers in Cairo during the siege in the 1990s. She has been working in online investigative journalism since 2008. She is the writer of Scented Tissue (2020).
