A Russian-American actress, radio actress, singer and ballerina, born August 19, 1893. She graduated from the Chernyavsky Institute in Moscow. Before being chosen in 1912 at the age of 19 to train at the Moscow Art Theatre. Her first work in 1914 was Simfoniya lyubvi i smerti. Her most famous works are: Freaks (1932), The Great Lover (1931) and The Man Who Laughs. She died on September 6, 1974, in Vevey, Switzerland.
