A Ukrainian-American director, born as Bernard Louis Sagal on 18 October 1923 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine. He went to the Yale School of Drama. He was nominated for several awards including a Primetime Emmy and a DGA. His works include Christmas Eve with Charles Laughton (1955) and the play Lost in the Stars. He died in a helicopter accident on 22 May 1981 in Portland, Oregon.
