A Brazilian businessman, engineer, and politician of Lebanese origin, born on September 3, 1931. Maluf held several positions. He served twice as Mayor of São Paulo; from 1969 to 1971, and from 1993 to 1996. He also served as Secretary of Transport of the State of São Paulo from 1971 to 1975, Governor of the State of São Paulo from 1979 to 1982, and Federal Deputy for São Paulo. He is affiliated with the Progressive Party of Brazil. He studied at the Colégio São Luís in São Paulo. In 1955, he married Sylvia Lutfalla, with whom he has four children.
