An Iranian actress and director, born in Tehran, Iran. She studied painting and has worked in theater since 1984. She began her film career with Going Astray (1988) by Khosrow Sinai. Mohsen Makhmalbaf chose her for Marriage of the Blessed (1989), for which she won the Best...Read more Actress in a Leading Role award at the Fajr International Film Festival. She also won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2000 edition of the same festival for her role in Smell of Camphor, Fragrance of Jasmine. She also appeared in The Fish Fall in Love (2005), Season Five (1997), and Women's Prison (2002).
