An American actor, born in New York, USA, on December 3, 1922, as Leonard King Lesser. He married Janice Burrell (1954-1982) and they had two children before their divorce. He is known for Kelly's Heroes (1970), Papillon (1973), and The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976). He was the son of a Jewish- Polish grocer. He graduated from City College of New York in 1942. On the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Lesser enlisted in the United States Army and served in the China Burma India Theater during WWII. Len was primarily a stage actor until 1955, then regularly participated in television series and movies in supporting or guest roles. He gained fame after his role as Uncle Leo in Seinfeld (1991-1998). Lesser suffered from cancer in his later years, until he died on February 16, 2011, in Burbank, California, United States, at the age of 88.
