Robert McNamara was an American business executive and the eighth Secretary of Defense. He was born on 9 June 1916 in San Francisco, California, US. He served as Secretary of Defense under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson from 1961 to 1968. He received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MBA from Harvard University. He was a member of the United States Air Force during WWII. He appeared as himself in the documentary The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara (2003).
