An American actress, born on 2 September 1861 in Wheeling, West Virginia, US. At 16, she spent a year in Paris studying opera, but later she opted for a career in theater. She made her stage debut in 1883 in "The White Slave" at the Pittsburgh Opera House. She was one of the first big names in theater to appear in film, usually appearing in comedic roles. Her works in film include The Royal Family of Broadway (1930), The Right to Live (1935), and Charlie Chan's Secret (1936). She died on 31 October 1944 in Pelham Manor, New York, US.
