British actor born in Ayrshire, Scotland, UK on 29 December 1899. His most notable works include Nine Men (1943), Massacre Hill (1949), Son of Robin Hood (1958), and Kidnapped (1971). He refused to act in Hollywood, instead opting to remain in the UK. He also practiced boxing for 10 years. He married Julia Wolfe and they had one child. He died on 13 March 1976 in Wandsworth, London, UK.
