A British actor born in Ayrshire, Scotland, UK. His notable works include Nine Men (1943), The Son of Robin Hood (1958), and Kidnapped (1971). He refused to act in Hollywood during the 1930's, instead opting to remain in the UK. He was an amateur boxer for 10 years. He married Julia Wolfe and they had one child. He died on 13 March 1976 in Wandsworth, London, UK.
