Charles Hawtrey was a British actor born in Hounslow, Middlesex, on November 30, 1914, and died in Walmer, Kent, England, on October 27, 1988 of cardiovascular disease. Charles Hawtrey's most important roles are in Carry on Screaming! (1966), Carry on Don't Lose Your Head (1967), Carry on Follow That Camel (1967), and Carry on Up the Khyber (1968). He studied at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Charles appeared in cinema in 1922 as a child, then he moved to radio which led to his appearance in Marry Me (1932). Hawtrey became a regular in the Carry On films series, among which are Carry on Camping (1969) and Carry on Screaming! (1966).
