William Hartnell was a British actor who was born in St Pancras, London, England, on January 8, 1908, as William Henry Hartnell and died in Marden, Kent, England, on April 23, 1975, following several strokes. He married Heather McIntyre. He studied at the Italia Conti Academy. William Hartnell's most important roles are in Escape (1948), The Ringer (1952), Carry on Sergeant (1958), and Doctor Who (1963-1984).
