An English film actress, born in Hampstead, London, United Kingdom, to journalist George Edward Brown and his wife Helen Blanche. She attended St Mary's School in Ascot, then the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and made her first appearance in 1936 as Juliet in the play Romeo and...Read more Juliet. Three of her early film roles were directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, which are: One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942), I Know Where I'm Going! (1945) and The Tales of Hoffmann (1951). Among her credits are The Scapegoat (1959) and Victoria Regina (1961). She died in the United Kingdom of pancreatic cancer on September 18, 1975, at age 58.
