He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film work. He was married three times and had four children. Among his notable credits are The Cheerful Fraud (1926), Belle of the Yukon (1944) and This Is My Affair (1937). He died in Beverly Hills, California, USA, of a heart attack, at age 74.
