A German actress, born in Madiwen, in the Dutch East Indies, which is now known as (Madiuen) in East Java, Indonesia. She is the daughter of a guard. At the age of ten, she went to the town of Baden-Baden to study, and entered the world of cinema later, after her marriage in 1917 to the actor Fritz Daghofer, who was twenty-five years older than her, and they separated in 1919. She also worked in the German Theater in Berlin and participated in the Salzburg Festival in Austria, and in performances by German forces and theaters that were held during the war. She spent her professional career in post-war Germany, where she played many supporting roles until the late 1970s. She died in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
