At the age of 32, he graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), to continue his theatrical activity. In the mid-sixties, he began his film and television career. He also began his solo performances on stage, and toured internationally to present his solo performances. He was married twice and had one child. He won a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Drama-Logue Award, and an LA Weekly Theatre Award. Among his credits are Man in the Chair (2007), Ten Inch Hero (2007), Sideways (2004) and Shrek (2001). He died in Shadow Hills, California, USA, from cancer, at age 75.
