An Australian actress, born in Randwick, New South Wales, Australia, as Esma Ellen Charlotte Cannon. She married Ernst Otto Littman (1945-1972), had a child, and lived with him until her death. Her credits include Carry On Cabby (1963), Carry On Cruising (1962), The Rag Trade (1961-1962), and Jassy (1947). After early studies at the Minnie Everett School of Dance, she began her theatrical appearance at the age of four at the Opera and the Royal Theater in Sydney, and her first play was Madame Butterfly. She moved to London in the early thirties and appeared for the first time in British cinema in the movie The Man Behind the Mask (1936). What helped her remain in memory was her contribution to four films in the Carry On series in the sixties She died in Saint-Benoit-la-Foret, Indre-et-Loire, France, on October 18, 1972.
