Austrian actor, born on November 13, 1872, in Teplice, Austria-Hungary. He made his cinematic debut in Trilby (1912). He was the first actor to play Dracula in a movie. His real film career began in 1920 and he took on several roles in well-known silent films. His film career ended with the advent of sound films. He became a permanent member of the Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna from 1907 to 1920. He died on November 26, 1935, in Vienna, Austria. He is known for The Hands of Orlac (1924) and Dracula's Death (1921).
