British actor, comedian and writer, born on March 6, 1917, in York, England. Among his most famous works are: The Ladykillers (1955), Carry on Up the Jungle (1970), and Up Pompeii (1971). He died on April 19, 1992, in London, after a cardiac arrest, at the age of 75 years.
