An American actor, he was born in New York City, on April 11, 1881. Frank O'Connor was an American actor, director, and writer, with a career spanning five decades. He appeared in more than 660 films and television shows, and directed more than 20 films in the era of silent cinema. He started his cinematic activity as a hero in the silent film The Voice in the Fog 1915 and then made 6 other films until 1920 before focusing on working behind the camera, directing and writing. Among his most important works as director: Religious Racketeers (1938), Call of the Circus (1930) and The Block Signal (1926). Among his most important works as an actor are: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Cover Girl (1944), The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938) and It's Wonderful Life (1946). He died in 1959 at the age of 77.
