Former Indian actress, born on April 20, 1948, to a Hindu-Sindhi family (who settled in Bombay before and after the Partition of India) and a Christian British mother, who also decided to enter the film industry as a leading actress. She appeared in nineteen films. She made her debut in Dus Lakh (1966). In the mid-1970s, she ended her acting career when she got married to another movie star, Randhir Kapoor, and settled down as a housewife. She is the mother of the actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. She is known for Haseena Maan Jayegi (1968), Kismat (1969), and Kab? Kyoon? Aur Kahan? (1970).
