He has worked on and off Broadway for many years since his childhood, and has appeared in film and television since the early 1950s. His voice was used in TV commercials for Lucky Charms cereal for 29 years. He was married to Alice Middleton (1963-2015), they had a child, and she remained with him until her death. Among his notable credits are Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999), Midnight Cowboy (1969) and Green Card (1990). He died on April 9, 2016 in Manhattan, New York, USA, at age 93.
