A British actress, born in Kingston upon Thames, London, England, UK. She moved to Liverpool when she was about two years old. She left college at age 17 to pursue acting at the Everyman Theater in Liverpool. She won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress for Mona Lisa in 1986, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award for the same film. Among her credits are The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), Priest (1994) and Band of Gold (1995-1997).
