A British novelist specializing in children's literature, born in Salisbury, UK. She spent part of her childhood in Malta, a period that later inspired her novel "The Sun in Scorpio". In 1914, she returned to Britain and studied at Streatham High School. She studied French at Bedford College, University of London. Sharp then spent a year studying art at Westminster Art School. When she was 21, Punch magazine began publishing her stories, and she went on to write for several American and British magazines, including Harper's Bazaar and Ladies' Home Journal. In 1930, she published her first novel "Rhododendron Pie", which took her a month to write. Walt Disney Productions released the animated film The Rescuers (1977), based on her book series of the same name, to critical acclaim. She died on March 14, 1991 in Suffolk, UK.
