A British actor and screenwriter, who appeared in more than 30 films during his career from 1938 to 1970. He has appeared mainly in British comedies, often specializing in playing military characters. He was also a screenwriter for the films in which he acted, and wrote some of the most famous British films of all time, including Doctor in the House (1954) and Spring in Park Lane (1948). He wrote five Doctor On films and acted in 3 of them. Among his most important television series: Foreign Affairs in 1964. He died in 1980 at the age of 67.
