A British actress born in Hackney, London, on November 17, 1927. She was never married and had no children. She is an English stage, film and television actress, who rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s. She was often referred to as a "Lady England is the first with double adventure” and is known for her attractive image and distinctive hoarse voice. She was born to a Romanian Jewish mother and a Lithuanian Jewish father, who ran a cinema in East London. She attended North London Collegiate School and participated in local theater companies. Among her most important works are: The Avengers (1964), Armchair Theater (1960-1964), Guest House Paradiso (1999), Doctor On Clover (1966) and Carry On Screaming (1966). She died of a stroke in 2018 at the age of ninety.
