A British actor, born in Liverpool, England, on April 14, 1931. His notable work includes Carry on at Your Convenience (1971), Levkas Man (1981), and Truckers (1987). He worked in theater, film, and on television, and is best known for his performance in the television series Coronation Street (1961-2009). In 1974, he opened and ran with his wife Martha’s Kitchen Restaurant in Watlington, Oxfordshire, which he named after his daughter Martha, and in 1983, he and his wife bought a pub, turned it into a restaurant, and named it Edward after their son.
