An acclaimed Irish actress who won the IFTA in 2003 for Best Actress in a Supporting role for Any Time Now, and again in 2011 for Single-Handed. She is considered one of the most prominent names in Irish cinema and theater. She has performed in several plays at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin as well as in numerous TV shows and films. Her works include My Left Foot (1989) and Philomena (2013).
