She was a British writer, born on May 7, 1940, in Eastbourne, England, UK. She studied English literature at the University of Bristol. She was ranked tenth in The Times' 2008 list of "The 50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945." She is known for The Company of Wolves (1984), The Magic Toyshop (1987), and The Bloody Chamber (1983). She passed away on February 16, 1992, in London, England.
