A British character actress working extensively in film, television, and theater. She was born in 1955 in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of actor Graham Crowden. Sarah has appeared in over 50 television commercials for the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. She is a professional writer, contributing to the quarterly literary magazine Slightly Foxed. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in Literature from the Open University. In 1974, she began her artistic career as a student assistant stage manager at The Actors Company.
