An American actress, screenwriter, and poet, born in Fort Benning, Georgia. She studied and graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News. She studied English at Brooklyn College, which led to her writing poetry. She's known for The Wire (2002-2008), Slam (1998), and Shaft (2000).
