An Irish-American writer, born in Denver, Colorado, in the working-class Baker neighborhood. In 1921, she graduated from Denver West High School, and spent two years studying at the University of Colorado Boulder, without obtaining a degree. She then began her professional career in 1924 by working as a journalist for the Denver Post. She also began writing for the theater, and her works include the play Harvey(1944), Mrs. P.B. Wiggin's Day (1945), Imperative Mandate (1946), and Climate of Eden (1948).
