An Italian actress, born in Tripoli, Libya, into a Jewish family with a long Spanish tradition. She was raised and trained in Italy and soon studied classical and ethnic singing. She often combines acting and singing, works mainly in theatre, and has interpreted various compositions by contemporary authors in some cases written especially for her. She studied anthropology at the Sapienza University of Rome. Passionate about Sephardic Jewish music, she soon became one of the most accredited interpreters of the melodies of the Sephardi and Yemenite Jewish traditions. She's known for The Passion of the Christ (2004), Ripley's Game (2002), and Oci ciornie (1987).
