An Afghan filmmaker, born in 1991 in Tehran, Iran. She grew up in a remote area in central Afghanistan. Shahrbanoo studied documentary filmmaking at the Kabul workshop of Ateliers Varan and started her artistic career working in cinema vérité. Wolf and Sheep (2016), her first feature film, tells the story of a village similar to the one in which she grew up. It won the C.I.C.A.E. Award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. She is also known for The Orphanage (2019) and Not at Home (2013).
