A British actor born in Liverpool, on March 15, 1919. He was married to the actress Thea Gregory (1947-1975), they had 6 children and she remained with him until his death. His most important works: Scott of the Antarctic (1948), The Longest Day (1962), The Holly and the Ivy (1952) and The Battle of the River Plate (1956). He died of a heart attack in 1975 at the age of 55, leaving his wife, 3 daughters and 3 sons.
