A Brazilian singer-songwriter, musician, and actor, born in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of nineteen, he became homeless for three years, but his musical talent flourished while he was living on the streets, and he became famous in the favelas. Jorge's music is considered by many to be a revival of Brazilian pop samba, and he cites samba schools and soul singer Stevie Wonder as influences on his music. His musical work has been praised by many musicians, such as Beck and David Bowie. As an actor, he is best known for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), City of God (2002), and Marighella (2019).
