American actor, born in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He got married twice and had two children. His father was of Scottish-Irish descent and his mother was of German origins. He began his artistic activity in theater at a young age and participated in founding the new MET Theater in Los Angeles. He won the Bronze Award at the Western Heritage Awards in 1994. His most important works include Vanishing Point (1971), Footloose (1984), and Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on June 14, 1995, from lung cancer, at the age of 57 years.
