A Kenyan actress, born in Nairobi, Kenya, to Indian parents. She left home at the age of 17 and spent a year studying in Germany before coming to England, where she began studying to become a nurse. She then began hosting Sale of the Century with Nicholas Parsons for a year until 1978, after which she opened a fashion boutique called Plumage in Bedford, and then moved on to acting. Among her credits are Kim (1984), The Far Pavilions (1984), and The Mystery of the Disappearing Schoolgirls (1980).
