An Australian actress, born in Australia. She worked mainly in Great Britain and the United States. She began her acting career during the silent film era in 1917. She appeared in several diverse works between cinema and television drama, most notably: Limelight, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Mary Poppins. She died of cancer on June 14, 1982 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
