American actor born in San Leandro, California, on July 25, 1908. Harold received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his work on television and radio. He was married three times and had one child. He's best known for voicing the character of Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve on the radio show Fibber McGee and Molly in 1938, after which Peary got his own radio comedy show, The Great Gildersleeve in 1941. He also played that character in four films, including Gildersleeve's Ghost (1944) and Gildersleeve's Bad Day (1943). He was a voice actor in the 70s, including providing the voice of Big Ben in two Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer productions. He died in 1985 at the age of 76.
