American actress, screenwriter, author, speaker, and songwriter. She was born in New York City and grew up in the South Bronx, United States. Her acting career started at the High School of Performing Arts, and she subsequently pursued her education at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She is famous for her roles in many artistic works, including Sesame Street (1971-2018), Follow That Bird (1985), and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999).
