A British actor and director born Peter Charles Hammond Hill in London, England. After joining the Harrow School of Art, he began working as a production designer at the Sheffield Repertory Theatre, and afterwards turned to acting. He first appeared in a West End production aged 17. He made his onscreen debut on The First of the Few (1942) then Waterloo Road (1945). His notable works include The Count of Monte Cristo (1964), Contract to Kill (1965), and Hereward the Wake (1965). He began working as a TV director in the 1960s and won a BAFTA for Best TV Director in 1965. He retired in the mid-1990s. He married actress Maureen Glynne and they had 5 children. He died on 12 October 2011 in London, UK.
