A British actress, singer, and composer born in Ewell, Surrey, UK. She was nominated for several awards including a Golden Globe, a Golden Laurel, and an NME award. She also won 2 Grammys in 1965 and 1966. She became famous at 10 years old in 1942 when she sang for the first time on the BBC radio, singing for the British forces during WWII. She made her onscreen debut on Medal for the General (1944). Her notable works include The Gay Dog (1954), Finian's Rainbow (1968) and Goodbye Mr. Chips (1969). She married actor and producer Claude Wolff in 1961 and they had 3 children.
