An Irish actor, born in Cork, Ireland. He was characterized by a thick mustache, and often played the roles of waiter, guard, and gardener. He appeared in 7 films that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, and two of them won the award: Rebecca (1940) and Mrs. Miniver (1942). Harvey's first silent film was The Lilac Sunbonnet (1922) and his first talkie was The Devil to Pay! (1930). His final work was the film Devotion (1946). He married Helene Harvey and she remained with him until his death. He's known for The Invisible Man (1933), Rebecca (1940), and The Wolf Man (1941). He died in Laguna Beach, California, USA on December 14, 1945, due to complications from pneumonia, at age 61.
